 Swami Vivekananda Jayanti

Despite the ongoing pandemic like every other year this year too VKV Dibrugarh left no stone unturned in the celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti.  The celebration began with Samartha Bharat Parva which was observed from 26th December, 2020 to 11th January, 2021 in the Vidyalaya to awaken national consciousness among the youth focusing on the strengths of our Nation.

Everyday on these dates students and teachers offered flowers to a decorated photo of Swamiji in the morning school assembly which was followed by Swadesh Mantra and Veer Gatha by teachers, then everyone sang the National song ‘Vande Mataram.

On 12th January, Pushpanjali Karyakarm was held at various locations in the city where our teachers, students and staff members participated area-wise. Many teachers and students decorated a photo of Swamiji at their homes and offered floral tribute in honour of  his birth anniversary.

12th January declared as National Youth Day is celebrated by many schools and institutions all around the world.

Teachers and staff members gathered in the Vidyalaya campus and began the celebration by offering floral tribute to Swamiji. Thereafter all gathered in the Sanskriti Sabha Griha of the Vidyalaya where our Vice Principal, Sri R.M. Thakre welcomed the chief guest, Dr. Srishtidhar Dutta, Chairman, VKV Dibrugarh. This was followed by a short programme which included  Vivek Geet performance by the teachers, speech by the chief guest and floral tribute. Though there was an absence of students and a large crowd this time the teachers were overjoyed and thrilled for their performance.

The chief guest in his speech spoke about the ideals of Swamiji and his lectures and writings that derive source of inspiration from Indian scriptures and the broad outlook of his master Sri Ram Krishna Paramhansa. He also highlighted in his speech how Swamiji wandered about all around the country and motivated numerous youth organizations, study circles and service projects involving youth. Swamiji focused on the youth as he believed that they were the future of the nation.

After the speech of the chief guest,  a short prize distribution ceremony for the teachers who participated in singing competition last week was held.

Vice Principal, Shanshaka sir concluded the programme with a vote of thanks. All the teachers and staff members stood up for performing Aarti which was led by music teacher Smt. Pranamika didi.
